Most trivets are ugly enough to be kept in a drawer, and that is where they are when the hot pan is already hovering over the counter. Inglenook™ solves the real problem by looking good enough to stay out. A thick arch of ribbed silicone in deep charcoal, it looks like a small sculpture next to the stove until a pot lands on it. The silicone takes cookware hot from the oven, the ridges grip the counter and the pan, and after dinner it rinses clean under the tap and goes back to being decor.

How hot a pan can it take?
Standard food-grade silicone takes pots and dishes straight from the hob or a hot oven, so everyday cooking temperatures are no problem.
Will it mark or stain the counter?
No. The base is soft matte silicone that leaves no trace on wood, stone or laminate and does not scratch delicate finishes.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Yes, on the top rack, though a ten-second rinse under the tap is usually enough.
Does it suit teapots and small pans?
Yes. At about 15 cm across, the arch supports teapots, saucepans, moka pots and oven dishes. For very wide roasting trays, use two.
Will it smell of silicone or keep food odours?
No. Cured food-grade silicone has no odour and does not absorb smells, even after a curry.
Can it be hung on a hook?
Yes. The open arch slips over a rail hook by the stove, which is the second-best place for it. The best is on the counter.
